To all Binche Whut’en Eligible Voters
With Dwayne Martin now chief, his previous position of General On-Reserve councillor is now vacant. We also still have a vacant position for elder councillor. As such, we will be holding a by-election for the following positions.
- General Councillor (on-reserve)
- Elder Councillor (on-reserve)
Nomination Meeting, January 31st, 2022, 4pm-6pm at the Binche Whut’en Community Center
A nomination package will be sent to all members whom we have an address on file. If your address has changed recently, please notify us immediately. Please fill out your nomination forms and send back to us as soon as possible. The nomination meeting will be held at the Binche Community Center. Procedures will be put in place to ensure social distancing and safe practices. A reminder, a mask will be mandatory when entering any public spaces. Any nomination packages not received by 6pm, January 27th will not be accepted.
Election Day February 25thth, 2022, at the Binche Whut’en Community Center
Voting will be done online or through mail. A polling station will be available on election day at the Binche Whut’en community center. Again, social distancing procedures will be put in place, and masks will be mandatory. Due to the pandemic, we ask all voters to use electronic voting, or mail in ballots. Instructions for online voting will be sent out once candidates have been finalized.
