Position Title: Administrative Coordinator
Supervision & Department: Reports to Senior Manager, Family Development Program
Job Type: Full Time, Fixed Term (some weekends & evenings required)
Salary: $27 – $31 per hour

Background & Job Summary:

Established in April 2024, the Family Development Program provides preventive, cultural, and reunification supports to Binche families involved in the child welfare system. Binche’s legally binding S. 92.1 Agreement with the Ministry of Family Development ensures early-stage family support services to members across the Province – including voluntary and prenatal services. The Program leads the development of Binche’s inherent law, Neuzke Buba Ts’uhoonih (“We watch out for them, we direct them, we look ahead for them”). We are seeking an Administrative Coordinator to provide essential coordination, financial and administrative services as Binche supports families and transitions to exercising its inherent Jurisdiction over Child and Family Services.

Duties & Responsibilities

As Administrative Coordinator, you will:

  • Greet and assist visitors, answer phone calls, manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries; and maintain a welcoming and well-organized front desk and office environment
  • Provide clerical and administrative support including filing, data entry, and preparation of correspondence, reports and meeting materials
  • Manage office communications, records, scheduling, and logistical arrangements
  • Handle and safeguard confidential information with the highest level of discretion and privacy
  • Coordinate and process financial transactions – including purchase orders, cheque requisitions, staff and member travel arrangements, and related financial paperwork
  • Lead the planning, logistics, and organizing events and activities (e.g., Culture Camps, community gatherings, seasonal traditional activities/events), and Member Engagements for jurisdiction development, including venue bookings, catering, travel, and supplies
  • Perform any other administrative tasks as required to support the Family Development Program

Skills, Competencies & Qualifications

The successful candidate will posses the following skills, competencies and qualifications:

  • Administrative Expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple administrative tasks, maintain organized records, and ensure smooth office operations
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism: Proven capacity to handle sensitive and confidential case management information with discretion and integrity
  • Financial & Logistical Coordination: Experience processing purchase orders, cheque requisitions, travel claims, and coordinating venue catering and supply logistics for events and gatherings
  • Event & Engagement Support: strong skills in planning and organizing community and cultural events
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work with staff, community members, and external partners
  • Technology Proficiency: Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office 365, plus other digital tools for scheduling and information management
  • Cultural Awareness: Respect/understanding of Dakelh culture, activities, and values
  • Education/Certification: Completion of an Administrative Support Worker certificate, business administration program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Driver’s Licence: Must hold and maintain a valid BC Drivers Licence
